Located just 5 minutes from Boothbay Harbor

What We Do

At Double Haulin’ Fly and Light Tackle we do it all. Whether it’s throwing large baitfish flies, casting topwater plugs or live lining bait we will tailor the trip to the conditions and your needs as an angler. Captain Nick’s passion is throwing artificials and flies for stripers, but if conditions call for it, live bait can be used. From sandy beaches and flats, to tidal rivers, rips and ledges, the Midcoast region of Maine offers a great diversity of environments for us to fish. Our season starts in late May in pursuit of those first arriving stripers and can continue as late as mid October hunting schools of southward bound fish

Location

Hailing from a slip at Hodgdon Yacht Services in Southport Maine, Double Haulin’ Fly and Light Tackle is situated just five minutes from Boothbay Harbor. We are located at the perfect jumping off point to fish all of the Midcoast, including the waters of northern Casco Bay, The Kennebec and Sheepscot River systems along with their associated beaches and bays. For those visiting in the Boothbay Harbor region, the marina where we are located, has a large parking area, bathrooms and ship store making for the most convenient meetup location. However if you are not visiting this direct vicinity we may be able to coordinate another pick up location if it makes sense for the fishing that day. At times traveling by water can be more efficient on Maines coast than it is by car. This decision is up to the captain's discretion, so if you are curious about a pickup please reach out and ask beforehand.

There is no need to hold a Maine Saltwater Fishing License as the boat is covered by Double Haulin’ Fly & Light Tackles charter boat license.

We provide all the fishing tackle and gear, so you can be sure you are alway’s using the best equipment while fishing with us. On board you’ll find fly and conventional setups from Shimano, G. Loomis and Colton Fly Company.

Sunscreen (non-spray), polarized glasses, extra layers, a billed hat and rain gear are recommended.  It is always a little chillier on the water, and even if rain is not forecasted, rain gear will keep you dry from sea spray.

Please remember to wear non-marking shoes while aboard the vessel. Please bring your own lunch and any snacks of your liking. We provide bottled water and light snacks.
